The Blu Experience

Last night, mom and I had dinner at Blu, a restaurant in Shangri-La Hotel Singapore located on the 24th floor. Most tables are seated in front of a glass wall so the diners get a good view of the city. I chose to have the Experience Menu, a 6 plate menu of gastronomic cuisine that the chef will choose for you.  I was pretty excited since mom was raving about this restaurant. The meal starts with the server asking for any allergies, dislikes and favorites and then they serve you your bread and butter. You think it's just regular bread rolls, but they aren't.

Tomato Parmesan and Potato Onion
It actually tasted like potatoes and tomatoes!

Even our water looked really good.
For S$20 a bottle, it should! Mom didn't realize it was so pricey that she ordered two! haha

Our Experience Menu
Written and signed by the chef himself!

Barbecue Chicken Puff with Pink Lemonade
Can you say famished? I was starving and wolfed down the first dish in less than 5 minutes. The chicken puff looks like the flowers on the blossom tree. You have to eat it whole and drink the lemonade with it. After a while, you start tasting the barbecue chicken.

Lobster Thermidor
The foam on the right side was actually added after serving. It added a nice touch to the dish.

Greek Squid
Or at least what's left of it. In my excitement to try it, I forgot to take a picture.

The Egg Came First
This is actually onion soup. Before you eat it, you have to cut the poached egg in half and eat all the parts together. This is one of Blu's signature dishes.

Cod en Salsa Verde
I know it doesn't look all that appetizing but it's really good, I promise!

Breakfast for Dessert
The bottommost part is pureed passion fruit, the white of the egg is made of coconut and the yolk is mango. It was SCRUMDIDDLYUMPTIOUS. I wish I had two plates of that. There's no way to describe it, you just have to try it yourself. Oh. by the way, everything else on the plate is just a photo. Don't be fooled!

The Blossom Tree
You take one flower and dip it in the cocoa found on the pot of the plant.

The Blossom Tree just doesn't just give you yummies, it can give you a moustache too!
